The success of First Night depends each year on the energy and commitment of hundreds of community volunteers.

Volunteers sign up for 2-hour shifts between noon and midnight and receive a free First Night Button.

New Year's Eve with First Night® Missoula is filled with theater, dance, artists, poetry readings, plays, comedy, music, food, and family entertainment.

First Night Committee Application

The Missoula Cultural Council is preparing for First Night Missoula 2009--the fifteenth annual New Year’s Eve community-wide, alcohol-free celebration of the arts.

First Night Missoula 2008 showcased over 100 performances and activities in more than 30 venues throughout downtown Missoula, the University of Montana campus and Southgate Mall from noon until midnight on December 31, 2007.

Music, theatre, dance, children’s programs, visual arts, and more highlighted this magical day-long event. Each year's festival promises something for everyone, including free shuttle service for all participants provided by Beach Transportation.

Admission buttons are $10 in advance ($15 on December 31), with children ages 7 and under free, and will be available at 20 locations throughout Missoula and in the Bitterroot Valley each December.

First Night Idol Competition
Subway, Cherry Creek Radio and the Flagship Program have teamed up with First Night Missoula to produce the 3rd annual First Night Idol contest!
Starting in early December, Missoula area high schools will be hosting preliminary rounds of this entertaining competition made popular by the TV show “American Idol.”

The final round of the competition will be held in the Historic Wilma Theater on December 31, 2007 during the First Night celebration. The winner, as well as receiving prizes and the title, will help lead the countdown to midnight with the Ed Norton Big Band in the University Center Ballroom. All interested high school singers are encouraged to contact their Flagship representative or the Missoula Cultural Council to register.

In an effort to raise funds to build a First Night endowment for performing artists, First Night Missoula is proud to offer a print by local artist Larry Pirnie.

Mr. Pirnie has generously donated his talents in support of First Night. For a
$500 donation to First Night Missoula
one can enjoy this limited edition, signed and numbered print.

Only 300 prints will be made available to the public. $500 unframed, $800 matted and framed.
