In addition to over 70 performances and events, we’re delighted to feature a Masquerade Ball in the UC Ballroom all day long. Kids and adults alike may enjoy making a mask at the University Center. Then, join the Missoula Folklore Society, Salsa Loca, Big Sky Mudflaps, The String Orchestra of the Rockies, and The Ed Norton Big Band for a masked party of many musical genres. The String Orchestra of the Rockies is celebrating it’s 25 th anniversary this year, so they’re bringing along a masked-celebrity-guest for a New Year’s guessing game! Subway, Cherry Creek Radio and the Flagship Program have teamed up with the Missoula Cultural Council to produce the 5th annual First Night teen singing contest!

Starting in late November, Missoula area high schools will be hosting preliminary rounds of this entertaining competition, a talent show especially for New Years Eve!

The final round of the competition will be held in the Historic Wilma Theater on December 31, 2009 during the First Night celebration. The winner, as well as receiving prizes and the title, will help lead the countdown to midnight. All interested high school singers are encouraged to contact their Flagship representative or the Missoula Cultural Council to register.
