At First Night Missoula, there's plenty for kids to do! This page shows all the kids activities to make it easier for your family to plan. Check out our special KIDS SCHEDULE showing where all the kids' activities are.
Wondering where to park during First Night? We provide a free shuttle bus that runs about every 10 minutes, to bring you, warm and cozy, to each venue. It runs between the University and Downtown, and makes a stop at the McCormick parking lot as well. Just look for the yellow school bus and hop on! Animated Art!
All day, and especially after 5 when it's getting dark, go downtown to 137 E Main St to see animation in the windows of Zoo City Apparel! It's all about the year 2011, with a seek-n-find, and delightful imagry to bring in the new year! (It is also very close to Command Central, where you can buy buttons!)
Masked Parade!
Make a mask and be in our opening parade at Southgate Mall. The parade is at 1 pm, so if you want to join in, go to the mall at noon to make a mask!
SpectrUM!
SpectrUM will be at the Children's Theatre from 3 to 6 pm with a giant nose and other body and health related activities, for hands on Health. This will include the ever-popular Cow Eyeball dissections!
Kids Activities!
Curly The Clown will be at the UC from 4 to 7pm with many activities
Space Taxi! MCAT is open all day long so you can stop by and go on the SPACE TAXI or see the MCAT movie club's film festival
Fuzzy Friends!
Montana PBS is sponsoring a visit from Curious George and the Cat in the Hat at the UC from 2 to 4 pm
Magic Tricks!
See the magician , Mark King, at the Wilma at 3:00 pm
The Mime!
Christian Ackerman the Mime will be at the Children's Theatre at 3:30 pm
Pony Rides!
Shetland Ponies at Caras Park from 3pm to 5 pm, and ride the Carousel Ponies free with your button all day!
Play Games!
The UC gameroom is free all day with a button
Swim!
Currents is FREE for button-wearers from noon until 7pm! Just don't forget to take your button off when you swim!
Skate!
Glacier Ice Rink offers free skating ( plus skate rental) if you have a button. 6 to 8 pm
Chainsaw!
Got you! Don't worry, parents! Only the ice carvers will be using a chainsaw, not your kids! You can go see them carve live from a safe distance, from noon till 5 pm. After 5 you can see their beautiful sculpture all lit up in the New Year's evening.

After all that chainsawing, help make a New Year's Eve luminary at Caras Park from dusk until its finished!
